It’s a hard time. The coronavirus has had, and continues to have a dramatic impact on people. In these challenging times, we have to be prudent and protect ourselves. We are more careful than we were a year ago. As a result, we wear face masks, we try to avoid social gatherings, we keep social distance and most importantly we wash our hands more than ever.
Over the last few months, being sanitised and washing our hands is a principle that has been continually hammered into us. The reason for this, is because the virus can easily be spread from one person to the other via hands, washing our hands frequently with soap and water can prevent this (CDC, September). Yet if soap and water are not readily available, we can also use a hand sanitiser that contains at least 70% alcohol.
Nevertheless, is all this hand washing and use of hand sanitiser good for our hands?
According to the American Academy of Dermatology (2021) the frequent hand washing and sanitising can lead to dry skin issues and trigger hand eczema flares. When washing your hands, the water acts like a magnet drawing out the existing moisture from the deeper layers from our skin, which will contribute to further drying our hand-skin out. In general, our hands are much more exposed to damage than any other part of our body therefore, now more than ever we have to take care of them. In fact, did you know we can easily protect our hands by simply using a hand
Just by taking always with us a small tube of hand cream and using this regularly, we can do a lot for our hands. Since the hand cream acts as a replenishment that keeps the skin hydrated after washing. Because it helps to restore the skin’s moisture,
besides it even softens and smoothes the roughest and driest skin.
Apart from f the Covid-19 situation, in general it’s important to keep our hands hydrated. The skin of our hands contains some of our body's thinnest and most fragile skin. A lot of people, including me tend to forget about the hands.
The skin on the hands is actually one of the first places on which we show signs of ageing (Healthy, 2021). Almost as much as our faces, also our hands are exposed to the weather, and if we don't take care of them, they suffer from the effects of ageing.
With hand cream, you can boost your moisture levels and skin elasticity, while combatting pigmentation, dehydration and premature wrinkles.
In these challenging times, we must not forget our hands. In general, it's very important to care for our hands too. Using a hand cream can protect our hands from the water and rejuvenates our hand-skin. Besides, you can see the application of the cream as an escape moment for yourself anywhere you want. Summarized, simply taking with you a small travel-size hand cream is beneficial for you in many ways. So, what are you waiting for to purchase your protecting hand cream?
