Selling on Social Media

Starting a Business during the Pandemic is being challenged for us. Octavo realized that now more than ever, we are required to learn how to take advantage of technology to reach more potential customers. Moreover, we started our business at a time that knocking on people's doors offering our wellness boxes would not be a possible option. For this reason, we decided that we would sell our product, The Sustainable Wellness Box, mainly on Social Media, more specifically on Instagram.



It has become indispensable for us to understand the needs of our target audience, to develop strategies to meet these needs. To attract our potential clients to our platform. At this point, the world understood that online sales form a crucial strategy that is applied in the everyday processes of a business. And I dare to say that social media selling has become the darling strategy in marketing. This strategy mainly involves researching, connecting, and engaging with the target audience through social media.


Here some simple steps to successfully sell on social media:


First, attract, therefore, it is essential to ensure valuable content on your platforms.

Keep in mind that most people don’t go to social media looking to purchase goods and services. That is the reason why your content needs to bring value to your follows. This should for instance inspire, teach, or entertain the audience.


Secondly, you need to retain your follows, which you can achieve by creating content daily.

I know It is challenging since the internet goes super-fast and it takes time to create valuable and relevant content. But try to respect your creativity and do not rush yourself it’s better to have quality than quantity.

After these steps, you will be ready to direct the customer to take action for example initiating the sales conversation.


In addition to that, after a sale, we ask our clients to share on their Instagram a video or a picture of our wellness box. This way we reach more people, it's a simple way to get free marketing and organic interaction on Instagram.

There are a few reasons why online selling has become normal. Of course, the current circumstances push to be used even more frequently, however, online sales will continue to thrive even in a post-pandemic world.

I would advise you to slowly start, within one channel. Find the channel that your target group uses the most. In the case of you having a physical product, it would be best to create more visual content by using tools such as pictures or videos of your product. So probably Facebook, Instagram, or Pinterest would work better for you. Also, you can start with an e-commerce platform for example on Amazon or Etsy, those are good options if your business is still small and your Marketing not so strong yet.

Also, please remember to be human. Humanize your approach, since you are selling online, without physical contact, does not mean that it should lose the human and hepatic side.

We at Octavo found some ways to make our clients feel special. For example, by sending msgs to our clients after their purchase. The msg is just to ask if the client liked the box. We find this small after-purchase service important, we like to show our clients that we care about them and we want them to feel satisfied with their boxes.
